Field Rolling

We offer a field / land rolling service for small meadow, field and paddock owners using our 2-meter wide flat land roller.

Field rolling with a flat land roller has various uses, here are the most common:

• To help press seeds firmly into the soil after seeding or reseeding, improving germination rates.
• Flattening ruts, molehills, hoof marks, and uneven ground to create a smoother surface.
• Makes it easier and safer for mowing, harvesting, or grazing livestock.
• After plowing, harrowing, or frost lifting, rolling firms the soil structure, preventing excessive drying and erosion.
• Reduces the risk of injury (e.g., twisted ankles in uneven ground).

We can customise the weight of our land roller from 300kg to 850kg, allowing us to adjust the weight for the job at hand.

When combined with our Iseki TH5420 Compact Tractor with turf tyres we can minimise soil compaction and are much less likely to damage wet ground.

We are happy to roll fields from 1-acre to 10-acres in size. However, anything over 5-acres in size will typically be more cost effective rolled with a larger machine than we use.

Rolling can also be combined with our Grass Harrowing service.

Field Rolling Cost

No two jobs or fields are the same so we like to quote for each job individually. This way you know exactly how much you will be paying regardless of how long it ends up taking us.

Our prices take into account our insurance costs, labour, and machinery costs. Diesel is included in these prices and we are not currently VAT registered so there is no VAT to add.

For field rolling with our compact tractor and 2-meter wide flat roller we charge £50 per hour. In one hour we can cover approximately 2 acres with a single pass.

Travel Costs

We don’t charge extra for travel within 5 miles of DY14 0QU (Clee Hill). Additional miles outside of this area are charged at £2 per mile.

Minimum Charge

We operate a minimum charge of £150 even if the job only takes us 30 minutes. This is because of the time and cost required to load, secure and travel with a compact tractor and equipment.

Example Job Pricing

To help clarify our charges here are some examples:

• A 6-acre field, 10 miles from DY14 0QU that requires rolling with one pass. 3 hours work at £50 per hour. Plus £10 additional mile charge. Total price £160.
• A 1-acre field, within 5 miles of DY14 0QU that requires rolling with two passes. 1 hour of work at £50 per hour. This triggers our £120 minimum charge. Total price £120.
• A 2-acre field, 20 miles from DY14 0QU that requires rolling with one pass. 1 hours work at £50 per hour. Plus £30 additional mile charge. This triggers our £120 minimum charge. Total price £120.
