Grass harrowing improves pasture health by removing moss and dead material, stimulating grass growth, enhancing soil aeration, and promoting better nutrient uptake.
We offer a grass harrowing and overseeding service for small meadow, field and paddock owners using our spring tine harrows and Stocks Fan Jet Pro.
Spring tine harrows are generally better suited to ripping out moss, thatch and aerating the soil compared to chain harrows which just scratch the surface. They are also ideal for spreading dung and levelling mole hills.
Our Einbock Grass Manager spring tine harrows are one of the best possible options for removing moss, dead grass, weeds, and aerating the soil. We can also add additional levelling plates that help to level mole hills and spread dung when required.
Equipped with six rows of tines (84 in total) and a narrow 2.5 cm line spacing, this design helps to ensure precise and effective grassland care.
Unlike more basic harrows we can also change the aggressivity of the spring loaded tines as well as the height to suit the field conditions.
When combined with our Iseki TH5420 Compact Tractor with turf tyres we can minimise soil compaction and are much less likely to damage wet ground.
We are happy to harrow fields from 1-acre to 10-acres in size. However, anything over 5-acres in size will typically be more cost effective harrowed with a larger machine than we use.
Grass harrowing can also be combined with overseeding and our Field Rolling service.
Grass Harrowing Cost
No two jobs or fields are the same so we like to quote for each job individually. This way you know exactly how much you will be paying regardless of how long it ends up taking us.
Our prices take into account our insurance costs, labour, and machinery costs. Diesel is included in these prices and we are not currently VAT registered so there is no VAT to add.
For grass harrowing with our compact tractor and spring tine harrows we charge £50 per hour. In one hour we can cover approximately 2-acres with a single pass. We would normally recommend crossing the field in two passes.
Travel Costs
We don’t charge extra for travel within 5 miles of DY14 0QU (Clee Hill). Additional miles outside of this area are charged at £2 per mile.
Minimum Charge
We operate a minimum charge of £150 even if the job only takes us 30 minutes. This is because of the time and cost required to load, secure and travel with a compact tractor and equipment.
Example Job Pricing
To help clarify our charges here are some examples:
- A 4-acre field, 20 miles from DY14 0QU that requires harrowing with two passes. 4 hours work at £50 per hour. Additional mile charge £30. Total price £230.
- A 1-acre field, within 5 miles of DY14 0QU that requires harrowing with two passes. 1 hour of work at £50 per hour. This triggers our £120 minimum charge. Total price £120.
